SBI Launches On‑Chain Bonds That Pay Interest in XRP

Published at 2026-02-21 09:15:09

SBI Holdings, a long-time Ripple partner in Asia, announced an on-chain bond issuance that will pay investor interest denominated in XRP. The product converts a conventional fixed-income structure into a blockchain-native instrument, settling and distributing returns on-chain to token addresses. SBI frames the move as part of a broader effort to deepen retail and institutional access to assets tied to XRP.

The offering could lift demand and secondary-market liquidity for XRP if adoption among bond buyers grows, and it further blurs lines between traditional finance and crypto markets. Investors should weigh potential upside against XRP’s price volatility and custody, tax and regulatory questions that accompany payout-in-kind structures. Still, the issuance marks another step toward mainstream financial products built on crypto rails in Japan and the wider Asia region.
