BitGo Adds IOTA Mainnet, Opens U.S. Institutional Access

Published at 2025-12-05 12:45:11

Custody provider BitGo announced support for the IOTA mainnet, giving U.S. institutional clients a regulated pathway to hold and manage IOTA tokens. By integrating IOTA into its custody and security infrastructure, BitGo aims to remove a key operational barrier for funds, family offices, and trading desks that need compliant, insured storage solutions.

This step matters because institutional access tends to precede deeper market activity—more custody options can make it easier for asset managers and exchanges to onboard IOTA. IOTA’s focus on the Internet of Things and machine-to-machine settlement could attract new institutional use cases once custody, compliance, and liquidity considerations are addressed. Market participants will watch for subsequent exchange listings and trading support that typically follow major custodian integrations.
