Ripple eyes expansion of crypto and payment services in Brazil

Published at 2026-03-17 13:15:20

Blockchain firm Ripple plans to expand into custody, payments and brokerage services in Brazil, aiming to support digital asset management and tokenization for local institutions and businesses. The company says it will apply for regulatory approval from Brazil’s central bank, positioning itself to provide a broader suite of services beyond cross-border liquidity and to tap growing demand for tokenized assets and custody solutions.

If approved, Ripple’s entry could strengthen institutional access to crypto in Latin America, boost XRP usage for settlement rails, and intensify competition with local banks and fintechs offering custody and brokerage. The proposal underscores Brazil’s emergence as a key market for crypto infrastructure, while regulatory sign-off will be critical to determine how quickly these services can scale and integrate with existing payments systems.
