Shiba Inu Team Warns of Thousands of Fake Wallet Addresses Targeting Safe Wallet

Published at 2026-02-07 14:15:13

On Feb. 7 the Shiba Inu team, via member Lucie, issued a security alert telling the SHIB community that attackers have created thousands of fake, lookalike wallet addresses designed to deceive Safe Wallet users. The malicious addresses are intended to appear visually similar to legitimate addresses so victims paste or select them and unknowingly send funds to attackers.

This is a high-risk issue because blockchain transactions are irreversible; misplaced transfers are rarely recoverable. SHIB holders and traders should double-check addresses before sending, use verified address books or whitelists, confirm QR codes and ENS records when available, and report suspicious addresses to both the wallet provider and the Shiba Inu team. The warning underscores ongoing phishing threats across the crypto ecosystem and the need for extra vigilance when moving tokens.
