Paxos, Fidelity, Ripple, BitGo and Circle Win Conditional OCC Trust Bank Approvals

Published at 2025-12-12 16:30:29

The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency has issued conditional approvals enabling Paxos, Fidelity, Ripple, BitGo and Circle to function as national trust banks, subject to meeting specific OCC requirements. Those approvals pave the way for these firms to operate under federal supervision and expand services tied to custody, fiduciary roles and payment or settlement rails.

The decisions mark a notable step toward integrating major crypto players into the regulated banking framework and could increase institutional confidence in custody and stablecoin operations — Ripple (XRP) among them. Because the approvals are conditional, each firm must satisfy the OCC's terms before full operations begin, so the effects will unfold as supervision and compliance steps are completed.
