MicroBT Unveils Hydro ASICs for Industrial-Scale Bitcoin Mining
MicroBT this week introduced two hydro-cooled ASIC miners designed specifically for industrial-scale Bitcoin operations, saying the new rigs deliver higher hashrates and better energy efficiency compared with air-cooled alternatives. The announcement on March 18, 2026 positions the machines for data centers and large farms that prioritize power density and heat management to chase block rewards more cost-effectively.
For operators, hydro cooling can lower electricity and cooling costs while enabling tighter rack density, which may shift where and how commercial miners invest in capacity. The rollout increases pressure on rival manufacturers and could accelerate retirement of older, less efficient units, with potential impacts on network hashrate dynamics and operational carbon intensity as farms optimize for performance and cost.
