LSEG to Launch On-Chain Tokenized Asset Settlement by 2026

Published at 2026-02-12 22:16:06

The London Stock Exchange Group announced plans to launch the LSEG Digital Securities Depository, an on-chain settlement platform aimed at institutional investors, with a target rollout by 2026. LSEG says the platform will support tokenized asset settlement, providing a digital custody and settlement layer intended to sit alongside traditional post-trade infrastructure.

If adopted, the depository could shorten settlement cycles, reduce counterparty and operational risk, and improve liquidity for tokenized securities. The move underscores growing institutional interest in digital assets and will depend on regulatory sign-off and interoperability with existing central securities depositories and market utilities. For crypto markets, LSEG’s initiative signals a deeper push by legacy finance into tokenization and could create new on-ramps for institutional flows into digital securities.
