Aster Layer-1 Testnet Goes Live; Mainnet Targeted for Q1

Published at 2026-02-05 17:45:26

Aster announced the launch of its Layer-1 testnet, with a mainnet deployment planned for Q1. Rebranded in 2025 as a decentralized exchange specializing in crypto perpetual futures, the project is marketing its native stack and ASTER token to traders and builders in the derivatives space.

The timing follows a multitrillion-dollar surge in perpetual DEX trading volumes, which Aster says it intends to capitalize on by offering a purpose-built L1 for perp trading. Successful mainnet adoption will hinge on liquidity, integrations and security audits; if those come through, Aster could draw derivative traders seeking on-chain margin and faster settlement, but broader market traction remains to be proven.
