Bitcoin Whale Awakens: 500 BTC Moved from 2014 Wallet

Published at 2026-04-01 16:30:12

A long-dormant bitcoin address that had not been active since May 2014 shifted 500 BTC on Tuesday, splitting the amount into five transactions executed between 8:21 p.m. and 8:40 p.m. The quick succession of transfers drew attention from onchain trackers, as they fit a larger pattern this month: nearly 1,911 BTC have moved out of previously inactive wallets in March 2026. Such reactivations matter because coins waking after many years can alter perceived supply dynamics and attract trader focus. While a move alone doesn't confirm selling — transfers can be to custody services, OTC desks, or other long-term wallets — the cluster of dormant-wallet outflows this month suggests increased activity among older holders and is likely to be monitored by market participants for signs of broader reallocation.
