Ripple Seeks Australian License to Expand APAC Payments

Published at 2026-03-12 02:45:09

Ripple has formally moved to obtain an Australian financial services license, reinforcing its regulatory presence in one of the Asia‑Pacific region’s most active digital asset hubs. The application is aimed at supporting on‑shore operations and partnerships with local banks and payment providers, smoothing compliance and operational hurdles as the company expands its blockchain‑based payments network across APAC.

If approved, the license would create clearer rails for cross‑border settlements and could increase the utility of XRP as a liquidity tool in regional flows. The step also signals Ripple’s intent to align with local regulators and attract institutional counterparties, although the timing and exact scope of services will depend on the regulator’s review and conditions attached to any approval.
