FCA Selects Revolut Among Four Firms for UK Stablecoin Sandbox Trial

Published at 2026-02-25 14:16:30

The Financial Conduct Authority announced that Monee, ReStabilise, Revolut and VVTX will participate in a sandbox trial focused on stablecoin issuance and payment services, due to start in Q1 2026. The selection gives the firms a regulated environment to experiment with issuance mechanics, settlement flows and anti‑money‑laundering controls while the FCA observes real‑world risks and safeguards.

The move matters because it brings a major fintech player into a formally supervised test of stablecoin payments, signalling growing regulatory appetite to explore tokenised money for retail and commercial use. Results from the sandbox could inform UK policy on stablecoin licensing, consumer protections and integration with existing payment rails, potentially accelerating adoption if safety and compliance outcomes are positive.
