Sui Issues Emergency Fix After Six-Hour Network Outage

Published at 2026-01-19 18:30:08

Sui has pushed an emergency mainnet update to version V1.63.3 and increased the protocol version to 107 following a six-hour service interruption last week. The patch was deployed to address the fault that caused the outage and validators moved quickly to apply the change in an effort to resume normal block production and network activity.

The incident and swift upgrade highlight lingering resilience questions for the network and for services built on Sui. Users, dApp operators and integrators should verify they are interacting with nodes running protocol 107 and watch for further updates from the Sui team. The upgrade aims to restore confidence, but it also underscores the importance of monitoring node health and release procedures on Layer 1 networks.
