BlackRock Executes First 2026 Bitcoin and Ethereum Sale
Asset manager BlackRock kicked off 2026 by moving 1,134 BTC (about $101.4 million) and 7,255 ETH (around $22.1 million) to Binance, blockchain tracker Lookonchain reported. The transfers represent continued offloading from institutional holdings and are the first sizable, publicly observed sales by the firm this year.
Exchange inflows often signal increased sell-side liquidity, so these moves could exert short-term downward pressure on BTC and ETH prices or simply reflect portfolio rebalancing and liquidity needs rather than a directional bet. Market participants should watch follow-up on-chain flows, ETF data and order-book activity to determine whether this is an isolated distribution or the start of broader institutional selling that could affect market sentiment.
