Solana Confirms Week-Long DDoS Attack Peaked at 6 Tbps

Published at 2025-12-16 10:30:44

Solana said last week it was the target of a sustained DDoS campaign that at times pushed about 6 terabits per second of traffic, forcing intermittent service disruptions for some users and validators. Sui also reported a smaller-scale attack during the same period that degraded its network performance, slowing confirmations and impacting RPC responsiveness for affected participants. Both projects acknowledged the incidents and are working with operators to contain and mitigate ongoing effects.

The events underscore persistent threats to layer-1 networks that rely on high throughput and distributed infrastructure. Network-level attacks can amplify user friction, raise short-term operational risk and spur further investment in mitigation tools such as traffic filtering, peer changes and hardened RPC layers. Developers, validators and users should monitor official channels for updates and exercise caution with time-sensitive activity until full stability is confirmed.
