Polygon’s Madhugiri Hardfork Supercharges Network Throughput

Published at 2025-12-09 12:46:30

Polygon has rolled out the Madhugiri hardfork, a network upgrade designed to increase transaction throughput and reduce processing latency. The patch implements protocol optimizations targeted at more efficient block propagation, mempool handling, and execution batching, which together should allow higher sustained transaction volumes without sacrificing finality. Polygon positions the change as a step toward meeting enterprise performance requirements while keeping fees competitive for developers and users.

Node operators, validators and ecosystem projects are advised to update their software promptly to opt in to the new rules. If widely adopted, the hardfork could accelerate on-chain activity for DeFi, NFTs and micropayments and make Polygon a more attractive settlement layer for businesses assessing production-ready chains. Market and developer responses in the coming weeks will indicate how much the upgrade shifts real-world throughput and adoption.
