Kraken Adds Colombian Peso Funding, Launches Local Payment Support

Published at 2025-12-06 06:00:09

Kraken has begun allowing Colombian users to top up accounts directly with Colombian pesos, expanding the U.S.-based exchange’s local payment capabilities. According to Mark Greenberg, Kraken’s Global Head of Consumer, the feature is intended to give Colombians a secure entry point into the crypto ecosystem and simplify fiat-to-crypto flows for residents.

The change reduces barriers for new and existing users by cutting reliance on cross-border transfers and foreign-currency conversions, which can add cost and complexity. For the market, easier peso funding could raise adoption and trading activity while reflecting a broader trend of major exchanges localizing on-ramps. Users should continue to follow local compliance and security practices as access improves.
