Ant Financial-backed R25 launches RWA yield-bearing stablecoin on Polygon

Published at 2025-11-14 08:18:56

R25, a stablecoin protocol incubated by Alibaba’s Ant Financial, has gone live on-chain with a yield-bearing stablecoin backed by real-world assets (RWA), naming Polygon as its inaugural network partner. The token is designed to deliver on-chain exposure to off-chain assets while routing yield to holders, marking one of the more prominent examples of institutional RWA issuance moving into Layer-2 infrastructure. The choice of Polygon (MATIC) signals a push to scale RWA primitives in a low-fee environment and could attract capital seeking yield-plus-stability within the MATIC ecosystem. Market participants will be watching onboarding processes, custody arrangements for the underlying assets, and how regulators respond — factors that will shape adoption and any knock-on effects across DeFi markets.
