Franklin Templeton Buys 250 Digital in Major Crypto Push

Published at 2026-04-01 13:00:10

Franklin Templeton announced on April 1, 2026, that it has acquired 250 Digital, a strategic move to strengthen the asset manager’s institutional digital-asset capabilities. The deal brings specialized talent and product experience in custody, trading and tokenization, which Franklin Templeton says will help accelerate crypto services for pension funds, wealth managers and other large investors.

The acquisition reflects a wider push by traditional asset managers to integrate crypto infrastructure and meet growing client demand. While financial terms were not disclosed, the deal could speed product rollouts and simplify custody and compliance challenges as regulators continue to clarify rules. For the market, the purchase signals further institutionalisation of digital assets and may expand on-ramps for larger capital flows into crypto.
