Revolut Taps Polygon for Ethereum Remittances and Stablecoin Payments

Published at 2025-11-18 16:16:38

Revolut has partnered with Polygon to route Ethereum-based remittances and support stablecoin payments over Polygon’s scaling infrastructure. By leveraging Polygon’s Layer-2 environment, Revolut intends to reduce on-chain gas costs and shorten settlement times compared with using mainnet Ethereum alone, while using stablecoins to limit price volatility during transfers (tickers: ETH, MATIC, POL).

The move matters because it signals wider adoption of Layer-2 rails and stablecoins for practical cross-border payments, which could lower costs for users and boost on-chain payment utility. It’s a positive development for Polygon’s ecosystem and may increase demand for MATIC as transaction volume grows, while reinforcing Ethereum’s role as the settlement layer. Regulatory and compliance considerations will remain important as Revolut scales these services to more users and corridors.
