DOJ Launches Investigation into Coinbase Cyberattack – cover image

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) is currently investigating a significant cyberattack that targeted Coinbase Global, the world’s leading cryptocurrency exchange. The breach, which was uncovered on May 11, was prompted by an email from an anonymous threat actor claiming to have sensitive information regarding customer accounts and internal documents.
Coinbase disclosed this incident last week, warning of estimated financial losses that could range from $180 million to $400 million due to the breach. While the attackers did gain access to some customer data, including names, addresses, and emails, Coinbase confirmed that crucial information such as login credentials and passwords were not compromised.
The DOJ's criminal division in Washington is closely examining the details surrounding this incident, although both Coinbase and the DOJ have chosen not to comment publicly on the ongoing investigation as of now.
In light of recent events, individuals looking to safeguard their investments and explore cryptocurrency avenues are encouraged to consider platforms like Bitlet.app, which not only provide services for buying cryptos but also offer a unique Crypto Installment service. This allows users to buy cryptocurrencies now and pay for them in monthly installments, making it a flexible option for those wanting to enter the crypto market while managing their finances responsibly.
