Polish President Vetoes MiCA-aligned Crypto Bill Again, Firms Face Exodus
Polish President Karol Nawrocki has vetoed a second attempt to pass a MiCA-aligned crypto bill, leaving the country without an approved domestic licensing framework for crypto service providers. The decision comes as Poland’s national regulator warns of a looming July 2026 deadline for compliance with the EU’s Markets in Crypto‑Assets regime; without new legislation the regulator says firms could face legal uncertainty.
The veto increases pressure on exchanges, custodians and token service providers to consider relocating operations to other EU states that have already transposed MiCA or moved faster on licensing. Industry sources warn that regulatory ambiguity could deter investment and weaken consumer protections, while policymakers must now decide whether to rapidly revise the draft or risk accelerating an outflow of crypto business from Poland ahead of the compliance deadline.
