Fiserv Launches QR Crypto Payments in Argentina via Clover

Published at 2025-12-23 11:45:16

Fiserv announced it will roll out QR crypto payments in Argentina through its Clover point-of-sale platform, allowing consumers to pay with cryptocurrencies while merchants receive peso settlements. The Milwaukee-based company, which serves millions of customers worldwide, says the service converts crypto at payment time so merchants are paid in local currency—reducing exposure to price volatility.

The launch is notable as Fiserv becomes the first payments firm in Argentina to offer this kind of crypto-to-peso merchant settlement via QR. That could broaden acceptance among small and medium merchants in a market where crypto usage is already significant, while shifting conversion and compliance burdens to the payments provider. Wider adoption will depend on merchant uptake and ongoing coordination with Argentine regulators, but the move positions Clover as an early large-scale entrant in Latin America’s crypto payments space.
