Czech National Bank Launches First Bitcoin Pilot Portfolio

Published at 2025-11-14 10:35:50

On 14 November 2025 the Czech National Bank introduced its inaugural Bitcoin Pilot Portfolio to assess the practical application of blockchain-based assets. The program gives the CNB hands-on exposure to bitcoin, various stablecoins and tokenized deposits so staff can test custody, settlement flows and market dynamics under controlled conditions.

Moving from theoretical analysis to operational trials, the pilot is designed to shape future regulatory guidance and internal readiness rather than signal immediate monetary policy changes. Market participants and policymakers will watch closely: the lessons on liquidity, custody and legal treatment could influence how the CNB — and other central banks — approach crypto integration, tokenization and potential links to digital-money frameworks.
