Zcash Development Lab Raises $25M to Expand Privacy Infrastructure
Zcash Open Development Lab (ZODL) closed a seed round topping $25 million from leading crypto investors to accelerate development of privacy-centric financial infrastructure. The funds will support ongoing Zcash protocol upgrades, developer tooling, and expansion of ZODL’s self-custodial wallet, Zodl, with an emphasis on stronger on-chain privacy features and security audits.
The raise highlights renewed investor interest in privacy-preserving layers as demand for self-custody and compliant privacy tools grows. For ZEC holders and ecosystem builders, faster protocol work and a more mature wallet experience could improve usability and bolster privacy guarantees, potentially driving broader adoption among privacy-conscious users and institutional projects. ZODL said the capital will also fund partnerships and operational scaling as it deploys these enhancements.
