Crypto.com Secures Conditional VASP License in Cayman Islands

Published at 2026-01-06 08:45:08

Crypto.com announced it has been granted a conditional Virtual Asset Service Provider (VASP) license by the Cayman Islands Monetary Authority, the first digital-asset firm to do so. The conditional status signals that the company has met initial regulatory requirements and will operate under Cayman oversight while completing any remaining compliance milestones. The development is being watched as a sign of increased regulatory clarity in a major offshore financial centre. The license may make it easier for Crypto.com to offer custody, trading and institutional services to funds and corporate clients domiciled in the Cayman Islands, improving access to local fiat rails and institutional flows. Because the approval is conditional, ongoing regulatory reporting and compliance steps remain important; nevertheless, this move strengthens Crypto.com’s position in regulated markets and could prompt other exchanges to seek similar authorization in the region.
